So we had to take this opportunity to round up some of the artists doing the coolest, most ingenious and touching things and ask them about everything from their favorite lyrics to their own personal icons. These are the talented people you might have heard a viral song or two from but are about to go absolutely freaking all over. As they should be.

Its sound is: “Southern and raw with a catchy flow. I feel like you can hear the Atlanta sound of Gucci Mane in me, and then also the influence of Nicki Minaj with the punch lines and the confidence.

His big “I made it” moment: “Being the first female solo rapper from Atlanta to go gold and then platinum. I couldn’t believe I made history in my city!

His favorite song: “‘I’m near the rocks / Life is a bank, try to pause it (deposit)’ from ‘Blossom.’ It’s a song about growing up.

If she didn’t make music“I would be an astronaut, director, lawyer or teacher. I feel like I would be the coolest teacher.

Why we are obsessed: Two years ago, he was working at a Verizon store. Now he’s turned a viral TikTok into an already iconic career.

Why we are obsessed: She counts low-key bop queen Paris Hilton as one of her biggest fans and collaborators.

Its sound is: “I have a lot of rave and techno influence in my music, even if it’s light. But then I got super into pop, so I kind of merged the two. This is my formula.

What’s next for her: “Right now? Going to a hot yoga class. In life, my focus is on Coachella and getting that show done. So probably yoga and then thinking about the million things that need to be done for that.

Why we are obsessed: It’s not (only) the 32.3 million followers on TikTok, it’s how his songs take you back to adolescence.

Its sound is: “A meltdown in the form of songwriting. High school, my relationships, my friends and the LA lifestyle inspired me a lot.

Why we are obsessed: She’s a classically trained musician who isn’t afraid to go all out punk.

Its sound is: “Music that makes you feel like a badass.”

His favorite song: “’If you don’t pass the vibe test / Sorry but you don’t get the sushi’, from ‘Last Supper’.”

The icons that inspire him: “I listened to No Doubt, Weezer and Outkast a lot. I always watch Gwen Stefani’s live broadcasts on YouTube when I’m getting ready to play. The ultimate pregame.

Why we are obsessed: Before having fun on his own, he was already crushing it in the South Korean boy group Got7.

Its sound is: “Still being found, but I would say I’m into the pop genre. I’ve never really been able to express myself in the past as a member of my band, but with this album I wanted to show people fans my vulnerable side.
