Beth ward has joined MGM Springfield as head of community affairs, MGM announced on Wednesday.

Ward will be the primary media contact for the billion dollar resort casino and she will be involved in social responsibility initiatives including philanthropy, community engagement, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

An award-winning journalist, Ward brings more than 30 years of experience, having most recently worked for Western Mass News, where she reported and anchored the evening news, MGM said. Ward left Western Mass News in September.

Ward said she would continue to host the high school quiz show “As Schools Match Wits” on NEPM-TV, Channel 57, for its 14th season.

Ward holds a BA from Western New England University.

She began her television news career as a producer for the morning news on WFSB-TV, Channel 3, in Hartford, before moving to WWLP-TV, Channel 22, in Springfield, in the mid-1980s. Four years ago, she moved to Washington, DC, where she worked as a reporter and presenter at CNN and then at local stations.

Ward and her family returned to Massachusetts after six years, and she spent the next 10 years at the WGGB as a news anchor. She left the news in 2004 to start her own public relations and consulting business. She returned to abc40, now known as Western Mass News, in 2016.

Tabin has been active in the real estate industry throughout his adult life. As a co-owner of Home Improvement Associates, he has grown his construction business over three decades, building custom homes, investment properties, rehabilitations, residential and commercial renovations. His real estate development background includes a residential subdivision of new homes and Jacob’s Edge, a 25 unit condominium project in South Hadley.
