West Islip’s Bella DeNapoli won her knockout match against Katherine Ann Mohler Monday night on NBC’s “The Voice,” sending the 22-year-old contestant to the show’s live-action final.
“Bella, that was a beautiful and breathtaking voice today,” both women’s trainer, pop star Ariana Grande told her after DeNapoli performed Sia’s sad and self-deprecating “Chandelier” against the interpretation. Mohler’s downtempo from Bell Biv DeVoe originally upbeat and lead “Poison”.
“I had to go with Bella,” Grande explained in a voiceover. “Her Knockout was truly magnificent vocally but also emotionally vulnerable and moving.”
Coach John Legend said he admired DeNapoli’s “really cool interpretation of ‘Chandelier’. And when you’re in the quiet part of your voice, you do, like, those tight little runs and it’s really. convincing.” Coach Kelly Clarkson called DeNapoli’s voice “that pretty angelic thing, but you have a little edge.”

Speaking to Grande, Bella DeNapoli said: “I don’t think words can ever describe the love I have for you as a human being and as a coach. To have you as a mentor until then. now changed me for a life [sic]. you inspire me to keep challenging myself as an artist and I can’t [sic] wait to continue this journey together !! “
