Unbwogable was simply an example of change as embraced by the Narc led by the late President, Mwai Kibaki, and Raila Odinga to end KANU’s 40 year rule.

The song ushered in a new leadership as Kibaki was overwhelmingly elected, ending the late President Daniel Moi’s 24 years in power.

Before splitting up, the duo had previously recorded other songs, including Ting Badi Malomost of their lyrics recounting their lives as slum dwellers.

Their career path

Joseph Oyoo (Gidi Gidi)

After Unbwogable became a force behind the political euphoria of 2002, Oyoo and Owino made breakthroughs in their careers.

In 2005, the duo separated and each explored different professional paths. Gidi joined the Information Technology (IT) department of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) a year later.

In 2008, Gidi met NTV Sports presenter, Carol Radull, at KISS-FM and she noticed his talent as a commentator. She would later hook him up with a job on the radio as a sportscaster.

After showing his experience and his passion, Radio Jambo hired him as a full-time employee. He was given a morning show alongside former Harambee Stars coach Ghost Mulee.

Gidi is now famous for the Patanisho Show who reunites distant lovers.

At the same time, Gidi runs his label, Trendy Media Communication Limited.

After following his path, Maji Maji was appointed editor-in-chief of Ghetto Radio.

In 2021, he adopted Maji Maji as his legal name after a successful release.

At Ghetto Radio, he oversaw transition and growth by identifying and hiring new talent as well as modifying overall programming.

One of his highlights at the station was when he stormed the Senate over a stalemate on the revenue distribution bill.

Speaking to reporters outside the parliament buildings, Maji Maji said he did not understand why the Senate had held nine sessions without taking any concrete decision.

In 2017, Maji Maji entered politics but failed to grab a seat in the county assembly at Embakasi East in Nairobi.

In the August 9 elections, Maji Maji was denied a chance by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to contest for Seme’s parliamentary seat.

The ODM gave incumbent MP James Nyikal a direct appointment.
