Jamshedpur, June 21: Narbheram Hansraj School of English (NHES) celebrated the fusion of yoga and music on International Yoga Day and World Music Day.
India has popularized yoga across the world and this year the theme is “Yoga for Humanity”. NHES celebrated the day in a unique way with a mix of music.
The evolution of music in India can be traced back to the first ‘OM’ sound to the chanting of hymns of Rigveda, Buddhist chants, Carnatic music, bhajans of Meera, quawwalis of Sufis, folk songs of Rajasthan, ‘Vande Mataram’ by Bankim Chandra, by Gandhiji. favorite bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan’ to our national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’.
Proud of such a rich musical heritage, NHES students participated in the celebration of this Day.
Various asanas were performed against the backdrop of live performances of Eastern and Western music by the students
Shreya Roy from Std XA, practiced artistic yoga. Std XA’s Harshita Hansda performed rhythm yoga and Std III C’s Oishani Singha performed dance yoga. The advanced yoga posture was demonstrated by Bhargabhi Mandal of Std IX. And, finally, a dance was performed by the students of Std 1 to the tune of ‘Fly like a Butterfly’.
Parents of participating students were invited to attend the show.
The esteemed members of the school management committee, who were present on the occasion, praised the wonderful performance of the students.
Principal of the school, Paramita Roy Chaudhury, said, “This initiative will not only inspire students, but also their parents and other family members to take care of their physical, mental and spiritual health.
