Adirondack Community Chorus is looking for singers for upcoming concerts


October 7 — The Adirondack Community Choir, under the direction of Peg Nuspliger, invites singers to participate in their upcoming fall and winter concerts.

On November 7, in honor of Veterans Day, the choir will perform “Sweet Land of Liberty” at 3:00 p.m. at the Boonville Presbyterian Church, 121 James St. The music for the concert includes patriotic music, American folk songs and spirituals. Part of this concert was presented at Constable Hall on August 8th.

The annual Christmas concert will be presented at 3 p.m. on December 12 at the Forest Presbyterian Church, 4019 Center Street, Lyons Falls, with a snow date on December 13 at 7 p.m.

The music includes a cantata, “Peace” by Joel Rainey, as well as “Peaceful, Silent Night”, “In the Bleak Midwinter”, “The First Noel / Pachelbel Canon” and “O Holy Night”.

Plans are also underway for a holiday concert at the Lewis County Historical Society in Lowville at 7:30 p.m. on December 4.

Rehearsals at Forest Church in Lyons Falls begin October 17th for the Christmas concert from 1pm to 2pm, and for “Sweet Land of Liberty” from 2pm to 3pm

Additional rehearsals will follow at the same times on October 24 and 31.

The “Sweet Land of Liberty” rehearsals will also take place at the Presbyterian Church in Boonville on November 1 and 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Rehearsals for the Christmas concert will continue on November 14 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Forest Church, followed by rehearsals on November 21 and 28 and December 5. There will also be a rehearsal on December 9.

Snow dates for all rehearsals will be the following Monday at 6:30 pm No audition is required to participate in the choir; Everyone is welcome.

Adirondack Community Chorus was formed in 1976, when Mrs. Nuspliger was asked to prepare a choir to sing with the Rochester Philharmonic. The original choir members formed a core of singers, which became the Adirondack Community Choir.

“Over the years,” says Ms. Nuspliger, “probably 1,000 people have sung with ACC.”
